What is Alcohol Use Disorder?
Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) a medical condition that occurs when a person is unable to stop or control alcohol use even when they are aware of social, occupational and health consequences. Alcohol Use Disorder is more commonly known as alcohol abuse, alcohol dependence, alcohol addiction or alcoholism. Alcohol Use Disorder is considered as brain disorder and the symptoms may be mild, moderate or severe. Factors that may lead to Alcohol Use Disorder includes drinking at an early age, genetics and family history of alcohol problems, mental health conditions and history of trauma. The effects from alcohol abuse may include inappropriate behavior, unstable moods, poor judgement, problems with attention, memory impair and poor coordination.
