CBD Oil and Gout

CBD Oil and Gout

Gout is a form of arthritis that can affect anyone.  Gout causes severe pain, swelling, inflammation and redness in one or more joints in your body (most often in your big toes).  Gout attack can happen suddenly without notice and usually occurs during the night. Pain from gout is unique and quite different from other kinds of pain. The affected joint will be tender and swollen with burning hot sensation.    People who have had experienced massive gout flare ups will understand how much of a nightmare Gout attack can be.

Gout is a result of accumulation of urate crystals.  Urate crystals is form when you have high level of uric acid.  Your body produces uric acid to break down purines.  Purines is a substance naturally found in your body extracted from what you eat.  Urate crystals causes inflammation and massive pain during gout attack.

Treatment often includes anti-inflammatory drugs like aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen or colchicine.  Today, we have Cannabidiol or CBD as a natural and non-intoxicating remedy to treat gout too.  CBD is a compound found in cannabis plant with numerous health generative healing properties.  CBD is often extracted from hemp plant to avoid THC.  Unlike THC, CBD does not have psychoactive properties therefore it will not make you high.

People have been using CBD to help improve their sleep, reduce stress and anxiety, relief pain and inflammation.  Because CBD is known as nature’s painkiller with its pain relieving and anti-inflammatory properties it is no doubt growing in popularity as an alternative treatment for gout or arthritis.

There have been numerous studies on lab animals and the results have been very promising for CBD as treatment for gout.  In 2015, researchers noticed that after CBD was administered to rats with arthritis pain there was less swallowing and improvement of posture compared to rats that was not given the treatment.  In 2017, male rats that was given CBD for treatment of osteoarthritis had reduced inflammation and pain and prevented any further nerve damage.  There is yet very little test done on humans, but from the information gather from patients whom have been given CBD in whichever form have provided claim that CBD has help them to relief pain.  Still more test in humans are needed to fully understand how CBD can treat gout.

CBD interacts with endocannabinoid system in your body which plays a role in regulating pain and inflammation to help treat affected areas from gout.  If you are new to CBD it is best to start with low dosage and then increase the desired amount accordingly.  Your age, weight and the potency of CBD product is also important.  With Mellow Organic CBD Oil we recommend to drop 0.5 ml under your tongue 2-3 times a day to relief pain and inflammation.  You may add more if you are experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort.

Today, CBD is available as edibles, vapes, capsules and oil or tincture like Mellow Organic CBD Oil.  Our product is made from CBD Isolate which consist of pure CBD mixed with MCT oil.  Our product has been lab tested and completely organic and free from harmful chemicals, microbial or heavy metals.  We have two flavor options to choose from Natural and Orange.

Diet and lifestyle is a major factor in gout.  There things you can do to avoid gout attacks and stop gout from flaring up such as drink a lot of water, losing excess weight, avoid or limit alcohol intake, avoid food that trigger gout like red meat, poultry, organ meats, seafood and sugary food and drinks.  All of this will help manage and keep gout at bay.  Remember to consult your doctor or medical personal before you start using CBD oil.
