Getting To Know The Difference Between CBD and CBG

Everyone has heard of the two most famous cannabinoids from the cannabis plant: CBD and THC. CBD is known to have calming, healing and sleep inducing effects while THC with its psychoactive effects is known to have calming, mood uplifting properties and pain-relieving effects.

But today we will be talking about another cannabiniod. A lesser known, but can potentially be as good as CBD. We will be discussing about Cannabigerol (CBG). What is is about? What can it do? What are the similarities and differences with CBD?

CBG can be found in CBD products that are made from Full Spectrum like Mellow Full Spectrum CBD Oil 1,800 mg CBD. Full spectrum CBD contains all the cannabiniods from the cannabis plant, plus the terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids. In Mellow Full Spectrum CBD Oil you will find cannabiods like CBD, d9-THC, CBG, CBC, CBN, CBDA, THCV, CBD, CBGA, d8-THC and THCA. While Broad Spectrum does contain all of these cannabiniod excluding THC. CBD Isolate is the third option which is the purest form as it has been extracted to contain only CBD and no other cannabinoids. A good choice for CBD isolate is Mellow CBD Oil 900 mg CBD which is available in Natural and Orange flavors. All available at our website www.melloworganic.com

Cannabigerol (CBG) is one of the 100s identified cannabinoids found from the cannabis plant. Cannabigerol is the decarboxylated form of cannabigerolic acid. Cannabigerolic acid is the molecule from which all cannabinoids are synthesized from. It's almost safe to say that CBG is the mothership of all cannabinoids.

The origin of CBG:

Youthful hemp plants produce cannabigerolic acid (CBGA). When the plant matures it will break CBGA into cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). Both CBDA and THCA are converted to CBD and THC and what's left of CBGA is converted to CBG.

Facts about CBG:

● CBG and CBD have similar characteristics.

● Both of them are non intoxicating with no psychoactive properties.

● They both have anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, antioxidant and analgesic properties.

CBG was first isolated in 1964, but it failed to gain popularity in the pass so research on it has been limited.

● Now researchers are finding that CBG has potential for many therapeutic benefits.

● CBG pain-relieving properties may be more effective than THC.

● CBG may interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system which regulates pain and inflammation.

● CBG may also have antidepressant properties.

● CBG may have antibacterial benefits.

● CBG may treat cancer symptoms.

The difference between CBG and CBD.

Even though both CBG and CBD are similar, they do have their differences. Both have different molecular structures. Molecular structures impacts how the cannabinoids binds with receptors and impacts bioaviality (The ability of a drug or other substance to be absorbed and used by the body.)

CBG and CBD has different roles when it comes to 5-HT1A serotonin receptors. CBG acts as an antagonist to the receptors while CBD may have opposing effects to the receptors. For example CBG may activate the sensation of nausea while CBD has a strong anti-nausea effect. So two cannabinoids can have opposing effects on the receptor.

Researchers have shown that CBG may stimulate your appetite and make you eat more than you normally do while CBD can suppress appetite and make you eat less than you normally do.

We need more research done or the different cannabinoids to understand it's full potential, but what we are beginning to understand stand about the relationship between CBG and CBD is that they have the potential to:

Stimulate appetite

● Have anti-cancer properties

● Have antibiotics properties

● Antibacterial agents

Today, we definitely know more about CBD and THC. But for the future it will be beneficial for us to learn more about how we can make use of other cannabinoids, because people are always looking for alternative holistic solutions to make an impact on their health and mind. Let's take a recap on what CBD do for you:

● Has no psychoactive properties

● Will not alter your mind

● Improve sleep

● Treat insomnia

● Boost energy

● Increase focus and concentration

● Regulate mood

● Help manage PTSD

● Reduce stress and anxiety

● Treat cancer symptoms

● Treat epilepsy symptoms

● Relief pain

● Anti-inflammatory properties

Remember if you are only looking for CBD in your CBD products then we recommend you to try Mellow CBD Oil made from CBD Isolate. If you want CBD plus other cannabinoids like THC and and CBG then try our Mellow Full Spectrum CBD Oil.
